WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE PEOPLE OF TIV

Where you go and you accidentally see the black and white striped attire, need not think further as this is the priceless identity of a particular tribe known as the people of TIV

The people of Tiv are majorly from Benue State of Nigeria and they constitutes almost 3.6% of the total population of the country (Nigerai) with more than 7 million people speaking the Tiv dialect.

The Tiv national attire is the black-and-white-striped 'Anger'. When the Tiv people arrived at their current location several centuries earlier, they discovered that the zebra they used to hunt for meat and skin, used for ceremonial attire, was not native to the area.

Later they decided to honour their heritage by weaving a cloth with black-and-white stripes, reminiscent of the zebra skin; this would then be made attires as preferred.

In the early days, the Anger used to be a small piece of cloth to be thrown around the neck, but now it is preferably worn as a full attire

The history of 419 in Nigeria

Well, even in foreign countries, fingers are easily pointed at Nigerians because the outside world believe we are "419ers" Did you know that the first exponent of 419 in Nigeria was not a Nigerian? "On 18 December 1920, a certain Mr. Crentsil, a former employee of the Marine Department of the colonial government in Lagos, wrote an extraordinary letter to a contact in the British colony of the Gold Coast, today's Ghana.... It is ironic that the first known Four One Nine fraudster known to history was not a Nigerian at all, but rather a Ghanaian.  Crentsil seems to have written a number of similar letters, each time offering to provide magical services on payment of a fee.  In December 1921, he was charged by the police with three counts under various sections of the criminal code including section 419... But Crentsil was in luck; the magistrate presiding over his case discharged him with caution on the first count and acquitted him on the two others for la
