Google Doodle celebrates Zimbabwe's Priceless musical instrument - The Mbria

Many people kept asking me what is usually the event on Google Page's feed and I've responded that it's called "The Doodle"

This is meant to give education to many of it's users and today isn't an exception

Today, Google helped Zimbabwe Kickstart her Cultural Week with the documentation of a vital musical instrument callne the MBIRA

This instrument was recorded to have survived for a thousand (1000) years in the culture of Zimbabwe

This instrument Originated from the southern part of Africa and has played a very important role in the culture of Zimbabwe's Shona people.

Mbira is made of a hardwood board otherwise known as GWARIVA which is usually fixed with some metals of strings sound keys. A large hollow gourd (deze) provides amplification, and materials such as bottle caps or beads can be affixed to the soundboard to create the instrument’s signature buzzing sound.
