The kingdom of Remo is one defined by strength,zeal and powers to Partially protect the Ijebu Kingdom.
From the small Ojodu town in Lagos you will have to drive down to the capital of Remo, Shagamu through Mowe,Ibafo and smaller towns for just 30 minutes. I call this ancient town the Gateway to Ijebu Land
The Akarigbo is seen as the Paramount ruler of all the towns surrounding Remo Kingdom.
A popular adage states that "If The Akarigbo is as small as a fist, he is still the Paramount ruler of Remo Land"
There are thirty three (33) towns that makes up the Remo kingdom in Ogun state. The capital of the kingdom is Ishaga-olomu now fashionably called Shagam or Sagamu.
Shagam is made up of 13 towns, out of the 33 that makes this ancient kingdom, the thirteen towns are : Offin ( where the Akarigbo's palace is situated), Makun, Sonyindo, Epe, Ibido, Igbepa,Ado, Oko, Ipoji,Batoro, Ijoku, Latawa and Ijagba.The other twenty (20) are: Ipara, Ikenne, Ogere, Okun-owa, Ilisan, Ibese, Ode Remo, Ilara, Isara, Irolu, Akaka, Ikorodu, Odogbolu,Ayepe,Emuren ,Imota, Ijede, Gbogbo, Ikosi, Ijesa Ijebu.
