Today we are going to introduce you to a rare bird

                             THE IBIS

The ibis is a long-legged wading bird that inhabit wetlands, forests and plains.

"Ibis" derives from the Latin word for this group of birds.

The Ibis is a distinctive large bird that measures 75 centimetres or 30 inches in length and weighs 1.35 kilograms or 3 pounds. It has a wingspan of 112 – 124 centimetres (44 – 49 inches).

CHARACTERISTICS

The plumage of the Ibis is mainly white in colour with black plumes on its lower back.

Its small head and slender, curved neck are also black and practically bald.

Ibises has small black eyes and a long, slender, downward curved bill which is used to probe into sand and mud in shallow water or in grass and soil when foraging.

The legs of the sacred ibis are long and black and its feet are partially webbed like most wading birds. When in flight, the wing tips of the primary flight feathers are black which display a black border to the rear of the white wings.

BEHAVIOR

The sacred ibis is a sociable bird living, breeding and traveling in large flocks.

It is generally found in groups of 2 – 25 individuals even if we have records of being known to occasionally flock in larger groups of up to 200 to 300 birds.

Ibis is said to have not less than 20 species

I CAN NOT BREATHE - AYOMIKUN MISHAEL AFOLAYAN

BREATHE "I can't breathe". Those were the words he uttered Before his life was snuffed out. "I can't breathe". Those were the words that he uttered Before his life was ended, under the knee of a police officer. He groaned in pain, Pinned to the ground, Unable to move, Unable to breathe, Losing the power, The will to live. And as he gave up, As his life ebbed into nothingness, He sparked a change, a movement. He sparked the cry of a people, Stifled by years, decades of  oppression and racisim By years, decades of unfiltered bigotry and prejudice. "We can't breathe!", they chant. "We can't breathe!". And I wonder, If the knee will still be on the neck, Restricting the freedom of a people. And I wonder, If the knee will still be on the neck, Pressing the life out of a people. I wonder, If the knee will ever be removed, If an entire race will be able to live, to breathe. Ayomikun Mishael Afolayan
