Just like we have argued endlessly about the almighty Jollof rice, many Igbo kept the argument endless about which region or state owns the beautiful and precious OHA SOUP
My first visit to Onitsha was one never to forget due to the reception I received "foodwise". It was apparently my first visit and I've never met this almighty delicacy till after I consumed and my friend told me "you've just ate the OHA you've always clamoured". Believe me, I wanted to go back to eat more
Today we shall be telling you how to make this tantalizing African delicacy and we won't just do that alone but with the health benefits, so..... Here we go....
COOKING OHA SOUP
Ingredients:
Oha leaves
Uziza leaves
Ofor or achi
Kpomo, shaki, beef
Stock fish
Dried fish
Crayfish
Palm oil
seasoning cubes
Pepper
Salt
PROCEDURE:
Clean the meat and place in a pot.
Add onions, seasoning cubes and salt to taste. Let it boil for a few minutes, then add the stock fish and cook. After a few minutes add the cleaned dried fish.
Add the palm oil, crayfish, pepper then allow to boil for sometime. Dissolve achi in warm water and then add to the soup. Stir well and allow to boil until the achi dissolves and the soup is thick.
Add the sliced oha/uziza leaves, finally add the shredded Oha leaves and allow everything boil together for about 5mins.
Your oha soup is ready
